Introduction

We built the S-shape carbon heat lamp for engineers who need serious infrared heat—focused, intense, and in a tight space. This isn’t a general-purpose heater. It’s a high-power radiant workhorse, built for industrial lines where you need heat fast and you need it dense. Thanks to the S-shape and the carbon filament, we pack a lot of wattage into a short envelope. That means you can hit your target temperature quickly without having to oversize the whole machine.
Power, Voltage, and Geometry
Here’s the core of it: you get high wattage in a short length—around 2500W, typically running off a 400V supply. Running at higher voltage keeps the current lower for the same power, which means smaller wiring and less voltage drop. The S-shape folds the filament path into roughly 300mm, giving you a lot of radiating surface in a very small footprint. Because it’s direct-resistance heating, the lamp runs hot—and it ramps up fast. You get immediate output, but you need to plan for thermal load. The lamp hits high operating temperatures, so the surrounding fixtures, reflectors, and nearby components have to be able to handle the radiated heat. If your machine is cramped, make sure you’ve got airflow and heat shielding to keep control electronics stable.
Material and Design
The carbon filament gives you broad infrared output that penetrates and heats surfaces efficiently—especially in plastic processing. The quartz envelope handles the high filament temperature and stands up to repeated power cycling without cracking under thermal shock. We use an R7s base because it’s proven: a two-contact ceramic design that can carry high current and withstand high heat without softening. Plus, it’s a straightforward drop-in replacement. Line it up, seat it, lock it—and you’re good. The S-shape also helps spread thermal stress across the quartz. That reduces hot spots and keeps output more uniform along the length of the lamp.
Where It Shines
You run this lamp when you need intense heat in a small zone: plastic welding, thermoforming, coating curing—any industrial process that demands concentrated, reliable heat. The carbon filament and the compact S-shape let you focus energy right where the process needs it. That can mean shorter cycle times and less wasted heat outside the target area.
The Reality
The trade-off is simple: this is a high-temperature component. Handle it with clean gloves, keep the quartz free of oils, and make sure the fixture can handle the heat.
