Let’s talk about the 1000W Carbon Fiber IR Lamp
Most people are used to the old-school quartz heaters with tungsten filaments. But we do things a bit differently here. We use carbon fiber. The big difference? These 1000W units pump out high-intensity shortwave radiation. In plain English: the heat gets deep into your materials a lot faster.
Why the power matters
When you’re running a 1000W lamp, you’re getting some serious heat density. It’s built for speed. Now, carbon fiber doesn’t need to get nearly as hot as tungsten to do its job, but it’s incredibly efficient at pushing that heat outward. You’ll notice the ramp-up time is almost instant. Your machines aren’t just sitting there idling—they’re actually working.
The build (and a warning on wiring)
We wrap that carbon filament in a high-purity quartz tube. It keeps the oxygen out and keeps the heat exactly where it needs to be. Most of these come with R7s or SK15 connectors. We chose those because they just work. They’re drop-in replacements for most industrial setups, so you don’t have to rewire your whole shop. Plus, they hold tight, which means no scary electrical arcing when you’re pushing a heavy load. **One quick tip:**If you’re wiring these into a high-voltage system, double-check your current draw. A 1000W lamp is thirsty for power. If your wiring is too thin, it’ll overheat and burn out. Not a fun way to spend a Tuesday.
Where these actually shine
You’ll see these all over the place—PET bottle blowing, curing paint, welding plastics. Basically, anywhere you need to hit a surface with heat right now. But here’s the catch: they’re a bit fragile. The carbon filament is steady, but the quartz tube is like glass. It can’t take a hit. Even something as simple as a fingerprint or a smudge of oil on the glass can create a “hot spot.” Once that happens, the tube will crack. **Do yourself a favor: always wear gloves when handling them.**Keep those skin oils off the quartz, and your lamps will last a whole lot longer.
